UM PANORAMA ATUAL DA PALEOECOLOGIA DE VERTEBRADOS NO BRASIL
Resumo
A paleoecologia de vertebrados é uma área que vem atraindo o interesse de pesquisadores brasileiros. Com o objetivo de caracterizar o panorama atual da área, buscamos artigos publicados na última década e os agrupamos por ano de publicação, tema principal, e grupo taxonômico estudado. Observamos que o volume de trabalhos aumentou significativamente nos últimos dois anos, com ênfase no estudo do hábito alimentar da megafauna quaternária; os trabalhos envolvendo outros grupos mostraram-se, comparativamente, escassos. Verificamos algumas inconsistências de terminologia e conceitos ecológicos, e publicações que faziam apenas breves comentários sobre a vida de animais extintos. Sugerimos que existe um nicho para o crescimento de publicações na área, permitindo discussões mais abrangentes sobre a paleofauna de vertebrados brasileira.
